Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney has launched the debut album with his new band Sad Planets.
Back with John Petkovic of Guided By Voices, Carney is both lamenting and paying tribute to the titular Akron, Ohio, and has shared their Not Of This World single ahead of release on April 19th. Petkovic says:
“When Patrick asked if I wanted to come to Akron to jam with him in the studio, I saw it as a chance to work with a longtime friend, but also an opportunity to reconnect with Akron in a very different way.”
Both Carney and Dan Auerbach have been keeping busy since putting The Black Keys down for a rest after 2013’s Turn Blue; Auerbach has since put out a second solo album and taken production credits on various projects.
