Bestival confirms final headliner for 2012

florenceandthemachineFlorence & The Machine have been confirmed as the final headliner for this year’s Bestival.

“Her shows for us at Bestival and Camp Bestival over the last few years have always been highlights for many and I’m glad we can finally seal the deal with a headline show on the Friday of Bestival and with The xx on before her this promises to go down in the Best of Bestival yearbook,” organiser Rob Da Bank has said.

Florence & The Machine will top the bill on the Isle Of Wight event’s Friday line-up (September 7th), with the previously announced headliners New Order and Stevie Wonder following on the Saturday and Sunday  respectively.

“I grew up listening to him on the radio in the 80s, but he’s smashed it in every decade,” Rob Da Bank said when confirming Stevie Wonder back in March.

“We’ve had a lot of big names at Bestival – whether that’s Amy Winehouse or the Cure – but no one quite of his stature, and we’ll be rolling out the red carpet. He’s absolutely perfect for the Sunday night crowd – he is following Sigur Rós, which is the sort of contrast I love.”
