Beady Eye have begun work on the follow-up to their 2011 debut ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding‘ according to a post on the band’s official website.
After working on their first record with veteran British producer Steve Lillywhite, the band have signalled a significant change in approach by confirming Dave Sitek as their man of choice this time round.
As well as his time with the hugely influential US group TV On The Radio, since the early 2000s Sitek has manned the desk for some of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ best work, and also produced Foals‘ 2008 first album ‘Antidotes‘.
“Beady Eye have returned to the studio to start on the follow up to their ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ debut album released last year,” the official website’s post reads.
“Liam, Gem, Andy and Chris started sessions today with producer Dave Sitek. Release date is yet to be confirmed but the as yet untitled album will come out in 2013.”
Having received a generally warm response from critics at the time of its release in February 2011, ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding’ landed at #3 in the UK, but struggled to make a lasting impression on the charts.
