Anniversary klaxon.
Ash have arranged three UK gigs for the end of 2016 to celebrate the 20 years of their debut album ‘1977‘.
Charged up pop from a band who at the time could still have been kept behind for detention, the LP delivered unmistakably nineties anthems such as ‘Girl From Mars’ and ‘Oh Yeah’, and was a chart-topper in the UK after release in the spring of 1996.
It will be taken to London, Manchester and Nottingham in December.
“We’re as excited as we are in disbelief to announce the 20th anniversary tour of ‘1977’,” they say in a statement. “Some of these songs have grown with us throughout those years; others have the ability to transport us mentally and emotionally back to that crazy formative year of 1995 to 96. These gigs are going to be a trip, trip, trip!”
