Eight years on from their last conventional studio album, and after a string of singles in 2010 which culminated in the ‘A-Z‘ series, Ash have unveiled their brand new LP ‘Kablammo!‘.

“After a wait of eight years, and a long string of singles, we’ve gone on to do what we said we would never do again: we’ve only gone and recorded a brand new album. We set out to capture the live essence of Ash,” drummer Rick McMurray remarks.

Chief single ‘Cocoon‘ was played on BBC 6Music this morning (February 18th) and is now available through YouTube (below), while fans have the opportunity to immediately sample more new material at the London Barfly tonight.

“The closest sonic predecessor would be 2004’s Meltdown, with the songwriting of the Free All Angels singles,” McMurray continues. “We’ve stripped away the electronic overtones of the A-Z series and made a streamlined, blazing guitar record.”

More shows are coming up in June at the Dublin Whelans, Belfast Limelight, Edinburgh Liquid Rooms and Manchester Sound Control.
