Over the next few days, Live4ever will be shining the spotlight on some of our favourite albums and tracks of 2021 so far – today’s highlight comes from The Coral.
That The Coral’s tenth studio album would have something a little extra special about it seemed apparent from the get-go.
Announced back in January, even then it had its own fully formed world, one inhabited by a cast of characters telling the story of a world trapped in the past yet brought back to life in the sonic memories of the band.
“To not invest in the theme doesn’t detract from the enjoyment, or render it inaccessible,” our review reads. “Although Coral Island is divided into sections, interspersed with the narration, the interludes merely signify a change in mood or tempo.”
“Lover Undiscovered, possibly the breeziest thing the band have done since In The Morning, conveys a sense of entering the day bristling with optimism before the protagonists venture to the fair.”
