Albert Hammond Jr. is back on solo duty and has premiered his new single Muted Beatings.
This track preempts the release of a new album called Francis Trouble on March 9th, a title which refers to Hammond Jr. exploring the effects on his life and music of the stillborn death of his twin brother Francis. “What the music says may be serious, but as a medium it should not be questioned, analyzed or taken too seriously,” he says.
“I think it should be tarted up, made into a character, a parody of itself. The music is the mask the message wears and I, the performer, am the message.”
The Strokes guitarist is supporting The Killers in North America right now and will do the same for Franz Ferdinand in the UK and Europe until the end of this month before embarking on headline dates which include a visit to SXSW in March.
