A trailer for Bruce Springsteen‘s Western Stars documentary has been released.
The film, which is to tell the story of Springsteen’s recent album of the same name through live footage and interviews, is due to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month and has been co-directed by Springsteen with Thom Zimny, whose various collaborations with The Boss include the recent Broadway Netflix special, a documentary on The River album and videos for singles taken from the Western Stars album.
Western Stars was described as ‘a return to solo recordings featuring character driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements’ prior to its release earlier this year, and features contributions from over 20 musicians including David Sancious, Charlie Giordano and Soozie Tyrell.
Springsteen plays bass, keyboard and many other instruments, the majority of which came together at his home studio in New Jersey with producer Ron Aniello.
