The director of the Oasis documentary Supersonic, which is due for release on October 2nd, has given more details of the project to Q Magazine.
According to fan account OasisWorld on Instagram, Mat Whitecross has revealed there are no ‘talking head’ style interviews with members of the band. Instead, the hundreds of hours of interviews which were conducted are acting as narration, giving the impression of “Liam and Noel in the same room, like they’re having a conversation”.
“The problem we had was that, back then, not everything was filmed, unlike today, where everyone’s got their phones out,” Whitecross added.
Whitecross has said his principal aim was to capture the ‘excitement’ of Oasis’ rise from signing their first record deal in 1993 to playing record breaking concerts at Knebworth Park in 1996.
It’s reported that among the unseen footage used in the film are scenes from a 1994 gig at Los Angeles’ Whisky A-Go-Go venue, recording sessions for ‘Champagne Supernova‘, rehearsals for their debut TV performance on The Word and from those two days at Knebworth.
