Weekly News Round-Up: Kasabian, Slaves and more

Kasabian have swiftly added a second night at the King Power Stadium in their home city of Leicester.

Tickets had barely been on sale for an hour at the time of the news breaking, but with those for the original date of Saturday, May 28th all gone, the band have arranged another gig for the following day.

Pretty Vicious are back for 2016 with the new EP ‘Cave Song‘.

After a run of cracking singles last year which made them a part of Live4ever’s Best Of…2015 retrospective, this EP will be released June 17th through Virgin EMI, and is being led by the video for a new version of ‘Cave Song‘ filmed as a ‘kind of homage to their hometown of Merthyr Tydfil in Wales’.

Richard Ashcroft is now on the Glasgow’s Summer Sessions bill with Johnny Marr and which is headlined by Noel Gallagher.

It’ll be a gathering of British rock royalty at Bellahouston Park on Friday, August 26th, while much more recent starters Circa Waves have been confirmed for the bill too.

The Rifles will release ‘Big Life’, their new double album, in July.

The follow-up to 2014’s ‘None The Wiser‘s announcement comes with an October/November UK tour; tickets are on sale from tomorrow (April 29th) for the shows which open in Newcastle.

They’re a live act that should never be missed, one of the very best currently in operation, so make a careful note of Augustines‘ new UK tour dates which will be taking place in October.

The tour has been announced with a brand new track, ‘When Things Fall Apart‘, which was aired on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6Music show. It’s more classic chest-beating Augustines, taken from the band’s upcoming ‘This Is Your Life‘ album

Slaves are keen to get work on their second album completed, and have rescheduled a Derby gig in order to do so.

“We have nearly got album 2 done but need an extra week to finish it,” the band have revealed on Facebook. “Thanks for your patience. Promise to play some new songs and some really old ones too!”

Spring King‘s debut album is entitled ‘Tell Me If You Like To’ and will be out on June 10th.

Its release follows a helluva eighteen months for the band, who from irresistible early singles such as ‘Better Man‘ found their track ‘City‘ being picked by Zane Lowe to launch his Beats 1 radio show in July 2015, while they signed to Island Records in time for the ‘Rectifier’ single earlier this year.

Brian Wilson has been revealed as a headliner for the Together The People Festival, which is returning for a second year in September to Preston Park in Brighton.

The Horrors, Songhoy Blues, Skinny Living and Gaz Coombes are some of the other names on the bill, but it’s Brian Wilson who’ll be getting the most attention with his former Beach Boys bandmate Al Jardine for a UK festival exclusive performance of ‘Pet Sounds’.

Catfish & The Bottlemen will now be Ireland during their headline tour which starts in Hull, playing the Dublin Olympia on May 16th.

The band have also been confirmed as the main support for Noel Gallagher when the former Oasis man headlines the Belsonic 2016 series of gigs at the Titanic Belfast on August 23rd.

The track co-written by Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller for the new Monkees album ‘Good Times!‘ has been confirmed.

The song in question is entitled ‘Birth Of An Accidental Hipster‘ and joins more tracks written by special guests like Neil Diamond and Rivers Cuomo on the album which is being released to help celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary on May 27th.
