Mumford & Sons are heading back to the top of the UK Album Chart with their second record ‘Babel‘ after the Sunday night headline performance at Glastonbury, official midweek figures show.
The London group have also seen their debut ‘Sigh No More‘ move back into the Top 10 on the midweeks, while Jake Bugg, who himself enjoyed a very well received set at last week’s festival, is holding firm at no.5 with his debut solo LP.
In addition, the Arctic Monkeys and The Rolling Stones both have re-entries in the Top 20 after their own bill-topping spots at Worthy Farm, while Editors are on course for a new entry – currently at no.4.
“We know that high profile awards shows, such as the Brits, and music festivals can have a huge galvanising effect on artist sales, but in recent years the ‘Glasto effect’ seems to have become even more pronounced, particularly now that so many more of us can use our mobile devices to gain instant access to our favourite tracks and albums,” the BPI’s Gennaro Castaldo has said of the boost in sales.
