Wings guitarist Henry McCullough is said to be critically ill in hospital after suffering a heart attack on Monday (November 5th), the BBC reports.
McCullough’s sister Rae Morrison revealed the family has been ‘inundated with messages of support’ and has told the BBC: “He is a very special person. We really are very worried for him, his sister is on her way home from Florida and his brother is coming home from Glasgow.”
McCullough performed at the seminal 1969 Woodstock festival as part of Joe Cocker‘s band, and was invited to join Wings by Paul McCartney soon after The Beatles‘ split around a year later. He would leave the group shortly before they began work on the 1973 record ‘Band On The Run‘.
A regular fixture of the Seventies music scene, McCullough is also responsible for the spoken word sample on Pink Floyd‘s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon‘ track ‘Money‘, and released his first solo album in 1975.
