Kasbian’s Tom Meighan thinks it’s great to be playing mid and small sized venues on their US tour and at recent SXSW appearances.
The UK band, who play to huge arena audiences and festivals in Europe, have been away from the USA for five years and are back on the road stateside after landing their third consecutive #1 album in the UK with Velociraptor!
When asked about playing to smaller crowds in the States Tom explained:
“Basically, I think most bands… their egos would just be, “Oh, f**k that. I can’t be bothered to do the work.” …but there’s a bit of a buzz going around the US college radio stations for “Days Are Forgotten,” So we thought “Let’s go back.” And it’s pretty cool, man, because in New York we got three and a half or four thousand people to play to, which is great. And as you come to Texas and places like this, it’s a bit less. It’s like seven hundred or a thousand or twelve hundred, which is great! We’re going back to our roots and it’s brand new again, because we’ve been living in a bubble for the last bloody I-don’t-know-how-many-years. So it’s great, getting back to this vibe. These adventures….”
