Damon Albarn will take his Doctor Dee opera to Honeyfest for a headline appearance this year.
Centred around the life of 16th century scientist John Dee, the opera enjoyed an acclaimed run at the Manchester International Festival last summer, and will now be brought to the Wiltshire event on April 14th. Albarn will be joined at the festival by Dry The River, Rae Morris, Nick Harper, Cut A Shine and Kidnap Alice.
Following the Honeyfest gig, the Doctor Dee opera will be performed in London from next June for a string of dates. Taking place at the Coliseum, the opera will begin on June 25th, and will also be aired on June 26th, 28th, 29th, July 4th, 6th and 7th.
Damon Albarn is set to reunite with his Blur bandmates for the first time since 2009 when the band are presented with the Outstanding Contribution prize at this month’s Brit Awards.
