Plan B has said he may move into the world of punk for his next release, as he plans the follow-up to the hugely successful ‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks‘.
The British songwriter has made no secret of his desire to a explore a new genre of music for his next project, after moving from rap to a more soul/R&B fuelled sound on ‘…Strickland Banks‘.
The change of direction brought favourable comparisons to legendary soul artists such as Smokey Robinson, and Plan B will now be hoping for similar acclaim on his third album, which he has told The Sun could be set to feature undiscovered punk acts.
“I want to go different each time, or else why bother? I won’t do a punk record with loads of old punk artists, but with proper punk artists – ones at an undiscovered level because that’s what punk is,” he said.
‘The Defamation Of Strickland Banks‘ was released in April 2010, and currently sits at #13 in its 48th week on the UK Album chart. Last month, it was beaten to the British Album prize at the Brit Awards by Mumford & Sons‘ debut ‘Sigh No More‘.
