Reformed band The Libertines made their long awaited return to the stage last night at a gig billed as a ‘live rehersal’ in preparation for their forthcoming Reading/Leeds festival appearances.
The show at London’s HMV Forum was their first as a four-piece since 2004, and the 300 strong crowd were treated to a set full of the classic tracks from their two studio albums, as well as a clutch of b-sides and unreleased demos.
The group opened the gig in style with the frenetic ‘Up The Bracket‘ album track ‘Horrorshow‘, which was followed by fan-favourite ‘The Delaney‘. The set also included their hit singles ‘Don’t Look Back Into The Sun‘ and ‘Time For Heroes‘, and was closed with ‘What a Waster‘ and ‘I Get Along‘, both taken from their 2002 double A-side single.
The band will return to the Forum tonight (25/8) for a show in front of competition winners, before making their main return on the Main Stage at Leeds Festival on Friday evening.
