Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis has been describing the challenges of trying to ‘roll two festivals into one’ after the event was forced to cancel this year.
With big plans that had been afoot for the famous old festival’s 50th year, and plenty of wheels in motion for 2021, there’s going to be a lot to cram in in 12 months time. “I think because we’re rolling two festivals together for 2021, we’ve got a hell of a lot of surprises that we were planning for the 50th,” she told BBC 6 Music.
“Logistically, it’s a little bit complicated, because we’d already planned quite a few acts for 2021. It was one of those unusual years where you’re quite far ahead on the line-up. So we’re trying to work out how much we can fit in to next year.”
Eavis also singled out Paul McCartney as one headliner she hopes will be able to return next year.
Meanwhile, with Worthy Farm shut to all but the farm animals at the moment, the BBC iPlayer is instead streaming some recent favourite sets from the archive, not least of which Idles from 2019 which went out first (again) at 2.30pm UK time today.
