The vast majority of grassroots music venues in the UK which applied for a slice of the government’s Cultural Recovery Fund were successful, the Music Venue Trust has confirmed.
Last week, MVT revealed many venues’ future had been secured through to next April after parts of the £1.57b fund began to be rolled out, and its CEO Mark Davyd has now revealed it was 89% of them who got what they needed, with attention now moving to the 11% which didn’t. “Music Venue Trust warmly welcomes this very effective intervention by The Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Arts Council England into the grassroots music venue sector,” he’s said.
“As a result of this fund, the challenges facing the sector have been substantially reduced. Music Venue Trust will now shift its focus and will be announcing plans very shortly to tackle the remaining challenges facing sole traders, smaller venues that did not qualify for support, and the venues who were unsuccessful or were under-funded.”
