Angel Olsen faces some of life’s most profound emotions head on through the twists and turns of Big Time.
Reawakenings, love, loss and heartbreak are stories previewed initially with the classic single All The Good Times, and also with Through The Fires which Olsen described as the album’s centrepiece, a reminder of life constantly being in flux, and by its title-track whose video went deeper into some of its themes.
“For Big Time, we set out to celebrate how humans identify and to subvert the old-fashioned gender binary and societal/internalized gender roles of the past through choreography, color, and wardrobe,” the director Kimberly Stuckwisch explained.
“To exist outside strict definitions is powerful and often not given a place in cinema. This was our chance to hold a positive reflection in the space and to shout to the world that you are more than who you are told to be.”
