Billie Eilish had hinted at the Glastonbury news with her own social media post shortly before confirmation arrived.
Billie Eilish has been officially announced as the first headliner for next year’s Glastonbury Festival, and will top the Pyramid Stage on June 24th, 2022.
“We are very excited to confirm that Billie Eilish will headline the Pyramid Stage on the Friday night at Glastonbury 2022, to become the Festival’s youngest ever solo headliner,” a post on the festival’s social media reads. “This will be her first UK festival headline performance.”
Glastonbury is set to make its return after two consecutive summers of cancellations due to Covid restrictions; Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar had been lined up as headliners before the first cancellation in 2020.
“With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us,” a statement read back in January.
“In spite of our efforts to move Heaven & Earth, it has become clear that we simply will not be able to make the Festival happen this year. We are so sorry to let you all down.”
