Noel Gallagher has arranged an exclusive version of Back The Way We Came for the occasion.

Noel Gallagher has been unveiled as an ambassador for this year’s Record Store Day.

As in 2020, there will be two so-called ‘drop dates’ this year, and on the first of those, June 12th, Gallagher is releasing a special version of his recently announced High Flying Birds best of collection.

“Record shops, or stores now, were really important when I was growing up,” the Oasis songwriter comments. “And it’s something that is in my DNA of growing up.”

“The local record shop where we grew up, Mr Sifter, I immortalised him and put him in a song, and he’s still there!”

“He would buy and sell records. I would swap cassettes with him. They were just really vibrant places, record shops now tend to be a little bit more specialist.”

Gallagher has his eye on independent music venues too, and will be supporting those as part of a Sky Arts series which is due to launch later this month.
