“Let’s hope these concerts promise a long-awaited release for everybody there,” Tim Crooks, musical director of The Sound Of Joy Division Orchestrated, has said.

The Sound Of Joy Division Orchestrated – curated by Peter Hook and Manchester Camerata – will make its Manchester bow on September 17th.

That date at the city’s Apollo venue is one of two announced today as the reimagined celebration of Joy Division – featuring over 50 artists, musicians and guest vocalists – prepares to restart after lockdown and the run at Sydney Opera House and London’s Royal Albert Hall in 2019.

The other show is booked a week earlier at the London Palladium.

“This has to be one of the most nerve-wracking things I have ever done,” Hook has commented. “To sell out the Royal Albert Hall before anyone had even heard it was a fantastic compliment it has to be said.”

“The reaction has been wonderful and this time around I’m looking forward to being able to enjoy it myself. To bring it to Manchester for the first time will be very, very special.”
