Squid release their debut album on May 7th.

Squid have shared their new single Paddling ahead of the upcoming release of Bright Green Field.

“Written from two different perspectives, Paddling is a song about the dichotomy between simple pleasures and decadent consumerism,” the band explain.

“Recounting a familiar scene from Wind in the Willows, the song reminds us that although we are humans, we are ultimately animals that are driven by both modern and primal instincts, leading to vanity and machismo around us in the everyday.”

Premiered by Annie Mac in the UK on BBC Radio 1, it’s another taste of the sessions which Squid undertook with producer Dan Carey, keeping their association with Speedy Wunderground going; an association reaffirmed with string contributions to the album from Emma-Jean Thackray and Lewis Evans of Black Country, New Road.
