MF Doom passed away on October 31st 2020, revealed on social media by his wife Jasmine.

Busta Rhymes and Thom Yorke have both been remembering the influence of MF Doom after the MC and producer’s death was confirmed last week.

“This man has meant something to our culture that no other MC has because he figured out something that none of us has before him and that was to be completely free,” Busta Rhymes wrote on Instagram. “We all have soooooo much to still learn from this great mind! Again rest easy king!”

Coming to particular prominence after ending a break from music as the new century dawned, MF Doom’s inspiration across genres has been highlighted by the words of Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke.

“Am so sad to hear MF Doom’s passing,” Yorke tweeted. “He was a massive inspiration to so many of us, changed things. For me the way he put words was often shocking in its genius, using stream of consciousness in a way I’d never heard before.”
