The previous Arab Strap album goes all the way back to 2005.

Arab Strap have detailed their first studio record since The Last Romance.

Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton are ready to release As Days Get Dark on March 5th next year, after skipping over a decade their new album previewing now with the Compersion Pt.1 single.

“It’s about hopelessness and darkness, but in a fun way,” Moffat says. “It’s definitely Arab Strap, but an older and wiser one, and quite probably a better one.”

“We’ve had enough distance from our earlier work to reappraise and dissect the good and bad elements of what we did,” Middleton adds. “Not many bands get to do this, so it’s great to split up.”

The pair were back with producer Paul Savage for the recording, him bringing ‘comfort, trust and a sense of continuity’ according to Middleton.

“I’ve never been interested in making slick records,” Moffat continues. “But the new stuff sounds much fuller, brighter and better because we actually know what we’re doing. I think for a long time we didn’t know how to express what we wanted in a studio.”

There’s a bit longer to wait for a UK and Ireland tour, but all being well that will take place during September 2021.
