The Smashing Pumpkins unveil new album tracks Cyr and The Colour Of Love

The Smashing Pumpkins are travelling in a new direction on their latest tracks Cyr and The Colour Of Love.

Billy Corgan describes the former as, ‘dystopic folly, one soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped up time’. “To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith,” he continues.

Both recorded in Chicago with Corgan on production duties, the songs point towards a new album which will see Corgan joined by his fellow founding members James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, as well as longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder.

Cyr also comes with a performance video directed by Linda Strawberry, filmed remotely during lockdown in Chicago and Los Angeles. “This is a goth fever dream of pent up emotion – an artistic visual release attempting to create a momentary escape from the emotional black cloud hanging over all of us this year,” Strawberry explains. “A dark seduction filmed in quarantine at a social distance.”
