The cancellation of this year’s summer festival season didn’t hit any harder than at Green Man – any event with Michael Kiwanuka, Parquet Courts, black midi, Shame, Nadine Shah, The Murder Capital, Boy Azooga, Working Men’s Club, Liz Lawrence and Sinead O’Brien all on its line-up is going to be sorely missed – but the pain will be eased somewhat with a virtual streaming event over the weekend of August 22nd-23rd.

The bill looks different, but still has plenty of quality in the form of Father John Misty, Eels, Pictish Trail, Stella Donelly and plenty more who’ll be featuring via once-streamed sets over on Green Man’s Facebook, YouTube and Mixcloud pages.

“These are the words we hoped we would never have to write, but it’s with deep sadness that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic we’re announcing that Green Man won’t be taking place this year, re-emerging instead 19th – 22nd August 2021,” the organisers’ statement opened when cancellation was eventually confirmed in May.

“To say we’re sad about this is an understatement – but after many tense weeks analysing the situation, we have had to make this very hard decision.”
