The first results of the remix project launched by Crass late last year will be released as a 12″ EP entitled Normal Never Was on July 24th.

The band made the original stems of their 1978 underground, cross-genre inspiring debut album The Feeding Of The Five Thousand available as free downloads in order for creatives to take hold of them and do as they please, two of those proving to be producer and XL boss Richard Russell and synth-pop artist Glasser.

Russell has put his spin on They’ve Got A Bomb under his rLr guise, while Glasser’s sights were set on one of Crass’ best known tunes, Do They Owe Us A Living?’. Once the EP is released, proceeds will be put towards the Refuge charity.

“Crass is a great example of futuristic art and lifestyle; anchored in communal ethics and collective spirit, moving beyond mere defiance of authority and into radical ideas of love and creativity,” Glasser says. “I’m so glad I had the chance to play around with their recordings. It’s basically the best gift a fan could get from the artists they admire.”
