Tarek Musa, the creative force behind Spring King over the course of two studio albums between 2016 and their split last year, has reemerged under the solo moniker Dead Nature.

In My Heart was self-produced, recorded and mixed with some assistance from Musa’s friend and Stealing Sheep cohort Joe Wills, and is the precursor to a debut EP which has been set for release on July 26th. “I’ve been facing a lot of my past on this record,” he says.

“The process has been similar to that of my younger years where I was writing songs quite quickly, using instincts and gut feelings to propel the creative process.”

“These songs explore ideas of loneliness and breaking away from your past, whilst challenging the notion of pride and the line between self-respect and egotism.”

After a string of singles and extended plays started in early 2014, Spring King released their debut album Tell Me If You Like To in June 2016, following it up nearly a year ago with A Better Life. Their decision to part ways came not long after, in November 2018.
