Bruce Springsteen‘s Western Stars documentary has been confirmed to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

We won’t know exactly when until the festival’s schedule is revealed next month, but we do know Western Stars is going to tell the story of Springsteen’s recent album of the same name through live footage and interviews. It’s been co-directed by Thom Zimny who also worked with Springsteen on his Broadway Netflix special, a similiar documentary about The River album and the videos we’ve already seen for singles taken from the album.

Springsteen described his new record as ‘a return to solo recordings featuring character driven songs and sweeping, cinematic orchestral arrangements, a jewel box of a record’ and invited contributions from over 20 other musicians including David Sancious, Charlie Giordano and Soozie Tyrell while he himself played bass, keyboard and many other instruments, all recorded primarily at his home studio in New Jersey with producer Ron Aniello.
