Johnny Marr and The Coral have been revealed as supports for the Doves‘ appearance at Inner City Live in Birmingham this summer.

Doves have been signed up for a while to perform at Perry Park on Sunday, July 28th after their emergence from a near-decade long hiatus, and will now be joined by two more big name acts; Marr adding this to his season of outdoor appearances in support of Call The Comet which continued at All Points East last week.

“The whole album is peppered with effects and unearthly rhythms; Actor Attractor has synths that hark back toth Electronic days, and album centrepiece Walk Into The Sea offers ninety seconds of a variety of instruments all backed by a nagging pulse before it kicks into life with a sky-scraping, windswept, ear-consuming sound,” Live4ever’s album review reads.

“As a contrast, Marr talks rather than sings throughout the song in a defiant tone. As rightly heralded as he is, it always seems to go without comment how much funk Marr brings to the mix. Bug is a perfect case in point, strutting as it does but the guitars on both verse and chorus could easily sit anywhere in Chic’s catalogue.”
