black midi have announced their debut album Schlagenheim.
The band worked again with Speedy Wunderground producer Dan Carey during sessions for their first LP, which will be out via Rough Trade on June 21st.
The lack of convention which is already such a part of black midi is very much in evidence on Schlagenheim; its tracklist will only be revealed on the day of release, while eight of those nine tracks were laid down in just five days. They’re also promising that the black midi sound will be radically different from what we know now in a few years time, frontman Georgie Greep explains:
“It’s a bit bold, but you’ve got to set yourself challenges, there’s no point doing the same thing over and over again.”
black midi will be playing live somewhere in north east London tonight, and are due to play New York City in July.
