The first preview of Morrissey‘s covers album California Son has been revealed.

Originally announced last December, the LP has now been given a release date of May 24th and is being led by Morrissey’s take of It’s Over by Roy Orbison. Among the other covers set for inclusion are Don’t Interrupt The Sorrow from Mitchell, Dylan’s Only A Pawn In Their Game and Dionne Warwick’s Loneliness Remembers What Happiness Forgets. Roy Orbison Jr. has said:

“We love Morrissey! Morrissey’s hair, and melancholy and poetic lyrics always reminded me of my Dad. His version of It’s Over is great.”

The release will come after Morrissey has completed his first tour of Canada in nearly two decades.
