Arctic Monkeys have gone to number one on the UK Album Chart for a sixth consecutive time thanks to their brand new LP Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

The band secured a combined total of 86,000 sales during the past week – 24,500 of which were on vinyl, a figure which amounts to the highest recorded for a first week in a quarter of a century.

Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino has divided opinion since its release, with Live4ever observing that ‘its wild diversionary nature may result in no-one ever feeling safe from the band’s next step again‘:

“Turner appears in character as an ageing lounge lizard throughout, opener Star Treatment’s first stanza, “I Just wanted to be one of The Strokes/Now look at the mess you made me make/Hitchhiking with a monogrammed suitcase, miles away from any half-useful imaginary highway”, a brilliant, rakish setting of tone from which he rarely wanders.”
