The departure of Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac has been confirmed.

It’s not the first time Buckingham has left the group since he helped to direct them in a mega-selling direction from 1975, but it is the first upheaval since Christine McVie’s return in 2014. Unsurprisingly, two high profile new names are joining; long-term Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and Neil Finn of Crowded House.

“We are thrilled to welcome the musical talents of the caliber of Mike Campbell and Neil Finn into the Mac family,” a joint statement from the remaining members reads.

“With Mike and Neil, we’ll be performing all the hits that the fans love, plus we’ll be surprising our audiences with some tracks from our historic catalogue of songs. Fleetwood Mac has always been a creative evolution. We look forward to honoring that spirit on this upcoming tour.”

Mick Fleetwood added that these new additions will keep Fleetwood Mac’s ethos of always being ‘about an amazing collection of songs that are performed with a unique blend of talents’ going strong.
