Chvrches have posted the track Never Say Die online with their new album Love Is Dead due on May 25th.

“‘Never Say Die’ is one of my favorite songs on the record because it really leans into the juxtaposition of what we do — the mixture between the dark and the light,” Lauren Mayberry says. “It’s melodic and direct but uses some of the gnarliest sounds we’ve ever tried.”

This was one of the first tracks laid down with their new producer as time was spent in the studio with Greg Kurstin. “The chorus lyric came about very quickly but the verses took a lot longer,” Mayberry continues.

“I really wanted to sum up a feeling of trying to be optimistic when you feel disillusioned by the people around you, but trying to keep going because ‘Goonies Never Say Die’.”

“Working with Greg was so different to what we’d done before, but it also felt so comfortable and like he’d been in our band forever,” the band have previously said of working with Kurstin.

“He doesn’t try to make you write a certain kind of song. He just listens and then Jedi puppet masters the best work out of you. The opening synth riff of ‘Get Out’ was the first thing to emerge on our first day in the studio with him.”
