The sudden death of Little Barrie drummer Virgil Howe has been announced. He was 41.

This has come as an ‘incredible shock to his friends and family’ with the band in rehearsals for their UK tour which was due to start today in Cambridge. “We are heartbroken that we have lost our dear friend and brother Virgil Howe,” bandmate Barrie Cadogan has said. “Our thoughts are with his daughter, family and partner. Please respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

“I am utterly devastated to lose my friend and a positive force in my life,” Lewis Wharton added.

Little Barrie released their fourth album Death Express in July, one Live4ever was again full of praise for; ‘never obvious, never simple’.

“Instead, Little Barrie have made an album that relies on the audience’s ability to come on the journey with them. It trusts them to understand that the scariest rides are the most exciting, even in their quieter moments.”
