Radiohead announce new Manchester concert after Arena cancellation

Radiohead will be playing a gig at Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground after their Arena gig in the city was cancelled following last month’s tragic events at the venue.

The band had been due to play shows at Manchester Arena on July 4th and 5th, but have instead switched to LCCC on the 4th; those with tickets for the original dates can expect to be contacted by their point of purchase with the offer of a swap or full refund. New tickets go on sale from June 17th.

Radiohead are set to headline Glastonbury for a third time later this month, returning to Worthy Farm twenty years on from their first, lauded appearance. It all neatly ties in with the 20th anniversary of OK Computer, which is also being recognised right now. “But why?,” a press release said of the album’s reissue.

“The original analogue tapes are the highest definition version of the record, and nothing will ever beat them.”

“However in the 20 years since the original release mastering technology has improved a lot, and with new equipment and techniques we can make a digital version that’s an improvement of the original transfer.”
