No UK shows for The Rolling Stones due to ‘lack of available venues’

The Rolling Stones have blamed a lack of available venues for the UK-shaped hole in their September European tour.

The band explained their problem on Twitter, and said they hope the issue rectifies itself in time for some shows next year:

“Sorry to our UK fans there are no UK dates on this run, due to lack of available venues because of sporting fixtures. Hope to be here in 2018.”

‘Unexpected tracks each night’ and ‘randomly selected surprises’ have been promised to fans in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Holland, Denmark, Sweden and France whose local venues aren’t pre-occupied with sport.

“I’m so excited to be touring Europe this Autumn and returning to some familiar places and some we’ve never done before,” Mick Jagger has said, while Keith Richards added: “Hey guys, here we come. See you there!”
