Carl Barat & The Jackals will play UK shows in the spring armed with a new EP entitled Harder They Come.

To go with previously announced festival sets at Liverpool Sound City, Wonderland and Camden Rocks, the band have arranged headline gigs in Newcastle, Glasgow, Bristol, Leeds and Nottingham from May 25th-June 2nd.

Content with The Libertines’ reunion being still a happy one, and given Pete Doherty’s current solo focus, Carl Barat recently discussed the different outlet his work with The Jackals gives him, enabling an exploration of ‘heavier’ sounding material when compared to his first love.

“With The Jackals, I can get a lot heavier stuff under the radar than with The Libertines,” he told NME. “I look for that, to do something different. There’s no point having the same band twice with one of them little and one of them massive – like a penny farthing.”

“There’s a different chemistry and the boys are from a heavier music background so it’s great to let rip a little. We’ve toyed with different directions but we want to keep it organic and free.”

Headline tour dates:

26th – Glasgow, King Tuts
30th – Bristol, Thekla

June
