The Joy Formidable have released a new digital EP entitled Sleep Is Day featuring Liana from their Hitch album as well as six acoustic tracks.
“We had some beautiful live recordings of tracks from ‘Hitch’ that we’d done acoustically,” Ritzy Bryan says.
“I think they were the building blocks of this EP. Then things got dangerous when we started dabbling with a few covers.”
The EP is a Pledge project supporting the Sumatran Orangutan Society. “We read a tweet by the naturalist and conservationist Bill Oddie where he was lamenting the destruction of the lianas in the orangutans’ natural habitat,” Bryan adds. “Once we started reading about the crisis the orangutan was facing, it set the wheels in motion for us wanting to raise some money.”
The Joy Formidable start a European tour backing Placebo on November 7th in Berlin.
