The Book Of Noodle is telling the fictional story of how Gorillaz came to arrive at their fifth studio album.
A series of posts on social media opens up by name-checking their 2010 record Plastic Beach, detailing how Noodle, ‘drifted away from Plastic Beach to safety, or so she thought’.
“Years later Noodle is face to face with pure evil. Will she prevail? Read on.”
The more accurate, but less entertaining, version of how Gorillaz returned to being can be traced back to 2014 when Damon Albarn first spoke of his intention to restart the project, while last year he was publicly ready to start work on new material.
After initially appearing not to be a part of the comeback, Jamie Hewlett was soon back on board too, while it’s recently been rumoured that both De La Soul and Snoop Dogg will reprise their guest roles from previous records.
