The Strokes got more out of their recent ‘Future Present Past‘ EP last night via a performance of ‘Threat Of Joy‘ on the US chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live. Give it a watch below.

‘Threat Of Joy‘ was first played by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 in the spring as frontman Julian Casablancas and Zane Lowe on Beats 1 all quickly premiered the first collection of new material from The Strokes since 2013’s ‘Comedown Machine‘.

In a rare spike of activity for the band, this live television performance reflects a decent enough little period of touring to go with the studio work which has included performances on hometurf at Governors Ball and much further afield at Splendour In The Grass, as well as a show at the inaugural City Of Angels Benefit Concert in Los Angeles of which Casablancas commented:

“Homelessness and mental health are big issues in LA and we’re happy to do a little something that can hopefully help a bit. The Center in Hollywood and Waste Not Want Not Now are great, well-intentioned and trustworthy charities doing wonderful work.”
