The full details for a new David Bowie box-set which is to include a previously unreleased album entitled ‘The Gouster‘ have been confirmed.

Also featured in ‘Who Can I Be Now? (1974-1976)‘ are remastered editions of ‘Diamond Dogs‘, ‘Young Americans‘, ‘Station To Station‘, ‘David Live‘ and ‘Live Nassau Coliseum ’76‘, released on September 23rd in 12CD and 13LP packages.

‘The Gouster‘ was recorded in 1974 and is by description a clear precursor to Bowie’s Thin White Duke period. It eventually evolved into ‘Young Americans‘, released in 1975, and has been described by Tony Visconti thus:

“Gouster was a word unfamiliar to me but David knew it as a type of dress code worn by African American teens in the 60s, in Chicago. But in the context of the album its meaning was attitude, an attitude of pride and hipness. Of all the songs we cut, we were enamoured of the ones we chose for the album that portrayed this attitude.”
