Damon Albarn’s Orchestra Of Syrian Musicians gig to be streamed live on YouTube

Damon Albarn‘s performance with the Orchestra Of Syrian Musicians, presented by his Africa Express project, at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London on Saturday June 25th will be streamed live on YouTube.

“This will be a great night,” Albarn believes. “I’m sure the musicians will create a beautiful, neutral space with this positive music. We’re so used to seeing Syria through the prism of news, which is entirely a negative thing.

“This concert will give a completely different perspective. It’s a truly miraculous sound they create. There’s a whole choir, there’s strings, there’s soloists, there’s amazing percussion. It’s a really dynamic and joyous sound.”

“We’re proud to be able to bring this concert to people around the world so that anyone, on any device, can tune in,” YouTube’s Annie Baxter adds. “As well as enabling people to see a different side of Syrian culture, the concert will allow Syrians around the world to reconnect with their Orchestra and see them celebrated in one of Europe’s iconic venues. It promises to be an incredibly special event and moment.”

The performance is due to go out at this link.
