Inspired by the success of their live comeback, and the ‘inspirational rise’ of the Wales football team, Super Furry Animals will release their first single since 2009 in time for the 2016 European Championships.
‘Bing Bong‘ is out on May 13th and is described as the sound of a band, ’emerging from the studio to spread hope and harmony in a reinvention of the totemic, communal anthem’.
“Let’s come together this summer, in song and let that song be ‘Bing Bong’,” a statement reads. “Please await further transmissions.”
Wales have qualified for their first major football tournament since the FIFA World Cup of 1958 and will compete in Group B against Slovakia, Russia and local rivals England.
The Manic Street Preachers have already been asked to write Wales’ official song for the tournament; “It’s with great pride we can announce the Manics are providing the official Wales Euro 2016 song – ‘Together Stronger (C’mon Wales)’,” they said.
