Organisers of Sheffield’s Tramlines Festival have opened their Emerging Talent competition for 2016 ahead of the event’s launch on July 22nd.

“Showcasing undiscovered talent has always been a key part of the festival’s ethos,” Kate Hewett, head of live bookings, remarks. “The Tramlines audience are open-minded and experimental, and new bands are guaranteed a great show, regardless of what kind of music they make.”

Tramlines has 15 slots to fill and is giving entrants the chance to submit their details at gigmit.com until April 29th.

Winners will be joining a bill which contains the likes of Jurassic 5, Mystery Jets, Gaz Coombes, Field Music, Young Fathers and Hinds, as well as headliners Catfish & The Bottlemen who have said:

“We’re absolutely buzzing to be headlining Tramlines this year. We remember it like it was yesterday. The last times, we were in Frog & Parrot with Little Comets or in Soyo with the Broken Hands lads watching Kieran Gallagher crowd-surfing and pulling the chandeliers down. It’s a real honour to be headlining.”
