A Pete Doherty gig on November 16th is at the moment scheduled to be the first show held at a newly refurbished Paris Bataclan.

“The work of renovation of Le Bataclan has started,” a statement reads. “It consists of rehabilitation of all the infrastructure and facilities. We’re going to try to preserve its warmth and friendliness. We want to maintain its spirit.”

An exact reopening date has not yet been decided, but Doherty’s gig is the earliest to be confirmed at this point, with Nada Surf another act who have a date set, theirs for December 2nd.

Paris’ famous old Bataclan venue has remained closed since an Eagles Of Death Metal gig there was targeted by terrorists on November 13th, 2015, claiming the lives of 90 people.

The Bataclan’s statement comes shortly before this year’s Record Store Day ambassadors Metallica release the ‘Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, Metallica! – Live at Le Bataclan. Paris, France – June 11th, 2003’ live album – all proceeds of which will go towards Fondation de France’s ‘Give For France’ campaign.
