LCD Soundsystem make live return in New York

LCD Soundsystem

James Murphy reignited the LCD Soundsystem flame last night (March 27th) for a first live show in five years.

Having seemingly laid the band to rest in 2011, Murphy made his comeback in New York ahead of festival headline appearances this year which will take in Coachella and Lollapalooza.

Murphy outlined his plans for LCD Soundsystem’s future in a post on Facebook at the start of 2016, insisting this live return will be no ‘victory lap’.

“We’re not just playing Coachella, we’re playing all over,” he wrote. “We’re not just having some reunion tour. We’re releasing a record (sometime this year—still working on it, actually), so this isn’t a victory lap or anything, which wouldn’t be of much interest to us.”

“This is just the bus full of substitute teachers back from their coffee break with new music.”
