The Maccabees, Foals win 2016 NME Awards

The Maccabees were named Best British Band and Foals went home with the Best Album prize from last night’s NME Awards.

Foals’ superb 2015 LP ‘What Went Down‘ came out ahead of other equally strong candidates such as Tame Impala‘s ‘Currents‘ and The Maccabees’ ‘Marks to Prove It’ –  yet they lost out to The Maccabees for Best British Band, as did the likes of The Libertines and Wolf Alice.




Elsewhere – in a category containing Kendrick Lamar, Courtney Barnett and Kanye West to name three – the Best International Solo Artist gong went to Taylor Swift. Remember when all this was supposed to be an ‘antidote’ to the Brit Awards?

Anyway, the evening will probably be best remembered for Bring Me The Horizon knocking over Coldplay‘s glasses of water. Have a watch:
